Career Related Learning

Career-related learning at Valley Invicta Primary School at Kings Hill is about opening a world of opportunities for our children and show them that there are endless opportunities and experiences they can have in the world of work.

We encourage pupils to explore different career opportunities as early as possible and encourage pupils to challenge career stereotypes, so that they know they can work towards anything they would like in the future.

Our Personal Development curriculum which intertwines PSHE, RSE, RE and our bespoke Ambition Project is full of rich, hands-on experiences, bringing the world of work into the school building.

Career-related curriculum coverage

In EYFS – they explore jobs in the local community and people that help them

Year 1 – Strengths and interests, jobs in the community

Year 2 – what money is, needs and wants, looking after money,

Year 3 – different jobs and skills, job stereotypes, setting personal goals

Year 4 – Makings decisions about money, using and keeping money safe

Year 5 – identifying job interests and aspirations, what influences career choices, workplace stereotypes

Year 6 – Influences and attitudes to money, money and financial risks

In addition to the lessons covered in the curriculum, whole school events promote the wide range of jobs in the local, national, and international markets.

Year 2 – KS2 trip to Kidzania / KS1 Little Street Opportunity
